ABOUT US

Message from Our Founder

As a survivor of gun violence, it was important to me to create a system of care that would advocate for people exposed to violence and begin the healing journey necessary to live a healthy life. We created a wrap-around system of protection that functions as a safeguard to prevent further harm and trauma to anyone in need of our help and support.

OUR STORY

Rebuilding our community and saving our sons and daughters one mind at a time.

The Jersey City Anti-Violence Coalition Movement (J.C.A.C.M.) was founded in 2014 by a group of concerned residents. It was necessary for the community to come together to combat violence by working diligently on the systemic root causes in neighborhoods that prevent families from living healthy life. J.C.A.C.M. offers extensive programs that reduce violence and address socioeconomic disparities that ultimately improve the quality of life for Jersey City residents. J.C.A.C.M. provides case management work, self-improvement workshops, on-site vocational training, professional development, and family support services. The organization has strong community relationships and works closely with residents, community organizations, law enforcement, government, and advocates. In 2019, they expanded and formed the Anti-violence coalition of Hudson County (501c3) to serve more communities in need of support.

Our Mission

To address the needs of public safety through programs and initiatives that focus on community-based violence prevention, intervention, and treatment. We are devoted to empowering residents and building a peaceful community, which improves the quality of life for everyone.

Our Vision

To be a leader in promoting a culture free from violence.  We envision a city where residents are safe to walk the streets with their families, respected as fellow human beings and given an opportunity to succeed.

Our Programs

Anti-bullying, peer mentoring, violence interruption, victim & family support, grief counseling services, violence prevention, intervention, mediation, life skills, support groups, conflict resolution, occupy the corners, vocational training, educational seminars and empowerment workshops.
